Objective: To build your dog’s comfort level when their tail or ears are being handled

Tail | ||
Touch your dog’s tail | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |
Stay at this level until your dog is comfortable with the handling (ears relaxed, doesn’t move away, body is loose and not tense) | ||
Continue working on each of the following areas, only advancing when your dog is comfortable with the handling | ||
Run your hand down your dog’s tail | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |
Lift the tail up | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |
Hold the tail up | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |
Move the tail from side to side | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |
Lightly pull on the tail | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |
Ears | ||
Touch your dog’s ear | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |
Lift your dog’s ear | Say ‘Yes’ and treat | |

If at any point your dog is not looking relaxed and comfortable, stop what you are doing and think about how you can make it easier for your dog |
